PROJECT BRIEF

Xiaomi India was entering the tablet category here with the new Xiaomi Pad 5. And they needed to ensure that it was positioned as a premium flagship device. Leading up to the launch, we created 5 short teasers which showed off the sleek design as well as teased the key value propositions of the device.

VISUAL DESIGN


To balance the simple campaign messaging and the highly function-based product messaging, we took a visual approach which put the Xiaomi Pad itself in the forefront. We chose a stylised but realistic visual design style in order to show what the actual product looks like in terms of textures while still maintaining a level of abstraction in the animation and lighting style.

There were 3 visual devices we used to achieve this - The Before-After visual switch, the environments and the typography animation.







THE BEFORE-AFTER VISUAL SWITCH


We used a visual switch to convey the core of the messaging. Initially, the environment's textures and lighting are monotonous and uninspiring, depicting life before using the Xiaomi Pad. Then, we show how dynamic and colorful life becomes after using the device.







ENVIRONMENT


The videos are set in the Xiaomi Pad’s natural habitat - desks. We designed the desk setups such that they reflect the feature being showcased along with supporting accessories.







TYPOGRAPHY ANIMATION


The 3D visuals are supported by a very simple but effective type animation style. Smooth and curvy typography - animated the way that you write on the Xiaomi Pad using the included Smart Pen.
